Despacito, a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi along with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It was the top streaming music of that period within the space of six months. The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop that not only drew attention to Latin Music, but also reggaeton. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs in 2016, as opposed to two in 2015. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017, however, 19 predominantly Spanish songs made it into the Top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 of them. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 as a bilingual rendition. Then, various artists collaborated with Reggaeton stars including Drake as well as Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma and Medellin 2019 By 2020 a few reggaeton stars were complaining about the genre's direction toward the mainstream. However, a younger generation, led by Rauw Alejandro, sought to keep reggaeton evolving. The genre often included elements of electronic dance music and other styles.
