In 1997 she began acting when she was 13 years old. The actress made her debut in the year 1997, at age 13. After taking classes and working as a background actor on Canadian series such as Road to Avonlea, Harriet the Spy and Goosebumps and was offered speaking parts in the Canadian horror television series Scared of The Dark? and Goosebumps. Both series were aired by YTV. [2] After commercials and guest starring roles for guest starring roles in Mutant X, Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story, Goosebumps, Twice in a Lifetime, Doc, Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye, Troubled Waters, The Dresden Files, along with a handful of Disney Channel original series (Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire and Alley Cats Strike), at age 19, while attending York University[12] where she studied Psychology and English. She was offered the lead role of Sadie Harrison in the CTV teens' drama Instant Star and ran for four seasons. Vandervoort had her feature-film debut in 2006 on The Lookout. She starred with Jeff Daniels and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Matthew Goode was also on the show. A variety of other TV appearances, like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation resulted in Vandervoort to take on the role of Clark Kent's Kryptonian counterpart "Kara Kent" (the girl who was to later become Supergirl) as part of The CW Serial Drama series Smallville. In the seventh season, she was a series regular. She was featured in "Bloodline" episode, which was episode from the eighth season. She was back on Smallville for two episodes in the finale season of the show, also her tenth. 4.
